Huron Alloys Inc. respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our normal business dealings, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or remove it.
01Who We Are
Huron Alloys Inc. is a metals distributor based at 1292 Plank Rd, Sarnia, ON N7T 7H3. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website and through direct contact with our sales team.
This policy applies to https://huronalloys.com/ and to information you give us by phone, email or in person. It does not apply to other websites we link to — those have their own policies, and we aren’t responsible for them.
02What We Collect
Information you give us
When you complete our contact or quote form, call us, or send an email, we collect what you provide:
- Name and company name
- Email address and phone number
- City or province, where you provide it
- Details of your enquiry — grades, sizes, quantities, delivery dates
- Any file you attach, such as a drawing, bill of material or RFQ
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time. We also collect a limited technical record with each form submission — IP address and browser identifier — to prevent spam and abuse.
03How We Use It
We use personal information only for the purposes it was given, namely to:
- Respond to enquiries, prepare quotations and fulfil orders
- Supply documentation such as mill test reports and certificates
- Keep records of transactions as required for business and tax purposes
- Understand how the website is used, so we can improve it
- Protect the website against spam, fraud and misuse
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. If we ever want to use your information for a purpose not described here, we will ask you first.
04Cookies & Analytics
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them, and similar technologies, to keep the site working and to understand how visitors use it. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they arrive. It collects your IP address, device and browser information, and pages viewed. This data is processed by Google and may be stored outside Canada. You can opt out across all websites using Google’s browser add-on.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our pages. Clarity records mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and page navigation, and may reconstruct a playback of your session so we can find and fix usability problems. Clarity is configured to mask text you type into form fields, but we recommend you avoid entering sensitive information into any web form regardless. Data is processed by Microsoft and may be stored outside Canada. See Microsoft’s privacy statement.
Search performance data
We also review aggregate search statistics from Google Search Console — for example, which search terms lead people to our pages. This reporting comes from Google’s own systems, does not place cookies on this website, and does not identify individual visitors.
05Advertising
We advertise on Meta platforms and on YouTube. To measure whether those campaigns work, and to show relevant ads to people who have already visited us, our website includes tracking tags from both providers.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
The Meta Pixel records that a visit or enquiry followed one of our ads, and allows us to show ads to people who have visited our site. This information is shared with and processed by Meta under its own policies. You can control what you see and how your data is used through Meta’s ad preferences, and review its privacy policy.
YouTube and Google Ads
We run video advertising on YouTube through Google Ads. Google’s tags on this website record when a visit or enquiry follows one of our ads, and support remarketing — showing our ads on YouTube and other Google properties to people who have visited this site. Google may combine this with information it already holds about your account and devices. You can review and change what Google uses through My Ad Center, and read Google’s privacy policy.
If a YouTube video is embedded on one of our pages, YouTube may set cookies when you play it, under Google’s policies rather than ours.
Most browsers, and most ad blockers, can block this advertising tracking entirely if you prefer.
06Sharing
We share personal information only where it is necessary:
- Service providers — our web host, email provider, and the analytics and advertising platforms named above (Google, Microsoft and Meta)
- Suppliers and carriers — where needed to source material or arrange delivery of your order
- Legal and professional advisors — where required by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim
Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed in another country and could be accessible to that country’s authorities under its laws.
07Retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Enquiries that don’t become orders are kept for a reasonable period in case you come back to us. Records connected to an order — including material documentation — are kept longer, because our quality system and Canadian business and tax rules require it. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it anonymous.
08Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and encrypted connections to this website. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will notify you and the appropriate authorities if a breach occurs that poses a real risk of significant harm.
09Your Rights
Under Canadian privacy law you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it is used
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep
- Withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual limits
- Unsubscribe from any commercial email we send you
Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you aren’t satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
